"Montana Black Bear and Cub", Pen and Ink Drawing by Sandra Merwin

This bear and cub was interacting with each other when my husband saw them. He respected their space and didn't try to get closer. The bear made eye contact with my husband and knew he was watching, but was comfortable with his presence. By using his reference photos from that experience, I've recreated the scene. The pen and ink gives a sense of both the intimacy of the relationship between bear and cub and distance of the observer.
