About This Painting:
Artists paint series for many reasons. A series shows mastery of a subject by creating originals using similar designs and colors. This is the first panel of a diptych: a two canvas painting.

When I was in training to be an artist one of my respected teachers told me that a series was a way of claiming your mastery of a subject and its treatment. Artists know that sometimes a good painting can occur for even the novice painter when the muses join forces. But the novice can't make it happen again and again. Only a artist with personal mastery can create a series with similar design, color and yet make it totally original. This is a way that the artist competes against herself. It is the opportunity to see if the creation is a fluke or if there is a mastery of design and color.

My Forum series began in 2001. All the Forum art pieces have been sold so I am now starting on a series of diptychs. It is challenging to add a second canvas and make the design while keeping the energy of mystery.

"Forum" is my way of explaining a grouping of horses who seem to communicate telepathically while they touch heads. You've probably seen this happen when three or more hang their heads together over a fence.
